NOS-M invites proposals for Nordic strategic workshops

The Joint Committee for the Nordic Medical Research Councils (NOS-M) is a collaborating body for the Nordic research councils that finance medical research. NOS-M aims to coordinate and promote medical research in the Nordic countries, to monitor its progress, and to facilitate information exchange among the countries. The Committee also aims to promote concrete, collaborative Nordic projects in medical research.

NOS-M hereby invites proposals for strategic activities aiming to promote Nordic cooperation within medical research. The activities should preferably be in line with the recommendations of the Nordic White Paper for Medical Research “Nordic Potential in Medical Research – Cooperation for success”. Example of activities foreseen are strategic workshops or other networking activities with a concrete outcome that will enhance Nordic medical research cooperation. The activities should have a clear Nordic added value and could for example be within areas where Nordic cooperation could be seen as necessary (such as rare diagnoses and personalised medicine) and within which the use of Nordic high-quality health data is central. Ongoing or well-established activities cannot be supported under this call.

Representatives of Nordic research organisations, public sector, patient organisations or other relevant organisations are eligible to apply. Companies may not receive funding from NOS-M although they may take part in activities at their own costs. The activities should take place in 2020.

Proposals should be 2-3 A4 pages and include a description of the activity with focus on how it aims to promote medical research in the Nordic countries and its Nordic added value. The proposal should describe how participants from the Nordic countries will be involved and include a plan for how to disseminate its results.

A short CV of the main applicant should be attached with max 5-10 of the most relevant publications listed (max 1 A4).

Each activity may apply for maximum 300 000 NOK. The budget should be justified using the budget template found here.

The proposals should be submitted to the NOS-M executive secretary Maria Nilsson at maria.nilsson@nordforsk.org by 20 November 2019.

Decision of support will be communicated in January 2020.
